Basal & Ceiling

Hi,

When administering a test can you reach a ceiling before a basal? For example, if the ceiling if 4 and the basal is 7 and I started at question 65:

56. +
57. +
58. +
59. +
60. +
61. +
62. -
63. -
64. -
65. -

Would 62-65 be the ceiling or would I have to establish a ceiling after getting the basal (meaning I would have to continue testing forward).

As a follow up to this question, what if the results were like this:
(Then keep testing backwards to achieve a basal)

60. +
61. -
62. -
63.+
64. -
65.-

Would you count questions 60 & 63 in your raw score or not since they were after the ceiling?

That actually made me stop and think! I think you stop testing after getting the basal. You did it right
