How clearly should a 34 month-old be speaking. Should any of their speech be intelligible to a stranger? Is speech made up of mostly babble still appropriate? Is speech made up of grunts still appropriate?

This is a great and common question!

By 3 years old, a child should be about 80% intelligible. For more information, check out
