Teletherapy Language Resources
Intentional Language Practice for Speech Therapy Sessions
Teletherapy language resources need to do more than entertain. They need to clearly teach skills, support quick practice, and help students understand what they are working on and why.
I created these teletherapy language resources to make it easier to:
- Introduce or review a language skill
- Provide short, focused drill practice
- Transition smoothly into games or functional activities
- Use the same materials across teletherapy and in-person sessions
All resources are digital and no-print, designed to fit real therapy sessions without extra prep.

Why Teletherapy Language Resources Matter
Language goals are often targeted during:
- Literacy activities
- Question-answering
- Games and conversation
While these approaches are valuable, many students—especially those with language disorders—need explicit instruction before they can successfully use a skill in context.
Without clear teaching, students may practice tasks without understanding:
- What the skill is
- When to use it
- How it helps communication
That’s where intentional teletherapy language resources make a difference.
Explicit and Implicit Language Teaching (Both Matter)
At Speech Therapy Talk, I place equal importance on explicit and implicit instruction. One is not better than the other—they work best together.
Explicit Language Teaching
Explicit teaching helps students:
- Learn what a skill is
- Understand how to use it
- Build awareness of why it matters
Explicit instruction typically includes:
- Introducing the skill
- Defining the skill
- Breaking it into steps
- Explaining the reasoning behind it
This is especially important when introducing a new goal or supporting students who struggle with language awareness.
Implicit Language Teaching
Implicit teaching allows students to:
- Practice skills naturally
- Use language in real contexts
- Strengthen carryover
This includes:
- Literacy-based activities
- Games
- Conversation
- Functional tasks
The goal is to learn the skill explicitly, then use it implicitly.
How Teletherapy Language Resources Are Used
These teletherapy language resources are designed to support both teaching approaches.
Explicit Language Resources
Explicit resources are used to:
- Introduce a new language goal
- Review a skill before practice
- Set the purpose for the session
They work well:
- At the start of a session
- When transitioning to a new goal
- Before a game or activity
Short practice sets allow students to apply the skill immediately after instruction.
Implicit Language Resources
Implicit resources support:
- Natural language use
- Generalization
- Functional communication
These resources are often embedded into:
- Games
- Storytelling
- Question-answering
- Conversation
Together, explicit and implicit resources create a balanced therapy approach.
