How To Say B

Some quick tips on how to say B:

• Make B by putting your lips together. 
• Make sure the child can see your lips as you practice B. It is a very "visual," easy to see sound. 
• You can also cue the child by saying "lips together."

Articulation Games for B

B is an earlier developing sound. Therefore, the games listed below are for younger children. Feel free to tweak them to meet the needs of the child.  Take turns with the child saying the desired words. It is important to practice hearing as well as saying the sound.

1. Ball - Say "ball" before you roll or throw a ball
2. Bounce - Say "bounce" as you bounce a ball or bounce up and down
3. Baby - Take turns rocking a "baby" while saying "baby"
4. Bubble - Say "bubble" as you blow and pop bubbles
5. Table - Say "table" as you put objects (i.e., napkins) on the table
6. Zebra - Color a zebra, throw a toy zebra back and forth as you say "zebra"
7. Knob - Say "knob" as you touch every knob in the house or turn a knob
8. Bib - Put a bib on a doll as you say "bib"
9. Web - Place anything in a web as you say in "web"
10. Tub - Practice "tub" in the bathtub, say "tub" together as you put toys in the bathtub

These games can be played at home or anywhere. Adapt any game your child is already playing to squeeze in some fun "B" practice.
